Suit to Control Pupils’ Reading

Share

The case of the fundamentalist students who won the right not to read certain textbooks because it offended their religious beliefs makes one wonder if we are living in the 20th Century.

I wonder what those parents will do when it comes to newspapers, radio and television? Do they honestly believe that they can prevent their children from being exposed to other points of view without locking them up and guarding them every minute of each day?

They obviously don’t have much faith in their own beliefs and teachings if they fear their children might be corrupted into thinking and evaluating on their own.

Again they haven’t learned the lesson of history, that showed that governments can lock up peoples bodies but they cannot prevent them from thinking.
