Former Watergate burglar Frank Sturgis was acquitted by a Circuit Court jury in Miami of charges of dealing in stolen property with undercover agents. Sturgis, 62, had been accused of scheming to defraud drug dealers who came seeking shortened prison terms for colleagues and accepting stolen Rolex watches as down payments. Defense attorney Ellis Rubin said that Sturgis often worked as an informant, and U.S. Customs Service supervisor John McCutcheon testified that Sturgis had given tips to Customs in the past.
