Koop Hospitalized for Old Neck Injury
Surgeon General C. Everett Koop has entered Bethesda Naval Medical Center because of neck pain stemming from a nerve injury sustained during a skiing accident in his college days, the Navy reported Thursday.
Koop, 70, was listed in good condition. Tests will be conducted for the next few days to determine whether surgery will be required, a medical center spokesman said in a prepared statement.
Koop was attending a conference Wednesday in San Antonio “when he began experiencing neck pain” and was taken to a hospital for initial treatment.
