A 12-unit Carson apartment complex that had been tented for fumigation was broken into by a burglar who apparently escaped the deadly fumes by wearing plastic head gear that was attached to a garden hose leading outside, sheriff’s deputies said. Sgt. Robert McPherson said deputies were called to the complex at 505 E. Lomita Blvd. by employees of Roma Fumes who noticed several cuts in the tent when they arrived to remove it. “They told us that anybody who would go in there would die after about three minutes,” McPherson said. Firefighters wearing special breathing apparatus were called but found no one inside the building. Deputies said they do not know if anything was taken.
