Court lowers award against Oxy Petroleum unit.

Midcon Corp., an Occidental subsidiary, said the judgment on a jury verdict against Natural Gas Pipeline Co. of America, one of Midcon’s transmission units, has been entered by U.S. District Judge Clarence Brimmer at $549 million, not the $724 million reported Oct. 31. The jury verdict followed a trial in Cheyenne, Wyo., on an antitrust and breach-of-contract suit brought by Colorado Interstate Gas. Midcon said the difference between the amount in the judge’s order and the figure first reported arose from the double counting of several amounts awarded by the jury.
