Jack (Murph the Surf) Murphy, a one-time surfing champion who gained notoriety with a daring 1964 jewel heist in New York, was paroled Monday from a life sentence for the 1967 murder of a young woman. Murphy, 48, who said he underwent a religious conversion in prison, has been living and working at a halfway house for state inmates in Orlando, Fla. He will be on parole for the rest of his life from the first-degree murder conviction in the killing of Terry Rae Frank, 24. The bludgeoned bodies of Miss Frank and another secretary, Annelie Mohn, 21, were found Dec. 8, 1967, in Whiskey Creek, between Miami and Fort Lauderdale. The women were killed over $488,000 in negotiable securities they stole from their employer, a Los Angeles brokerage, prosecutors said.
