South Bay : Coalition Receives Grant

Share

A $45,000 grant has been given to South Bay Coalition Alive by the South Bay Hospital District. The grant will be used to produce and distribute 30,000 laminated crisis resource cards identifying agencies and services, and to present workshops on family violence and how to avoid it. The program will be carried out next year in Redondo Beach, Hermosa Beach and Manhattan Beach, the three cities served by the district.

The coalition, formerly called the South Bay Coalition for Alternatives to Domestic Violence, is a nonprofit community organization with its headquarters in Redondo Beach. Philip Valera, executive director of the hospital district, said the board was impressed with a program the coalition recently carried out in San Pedro. “That helped sell our board on putting money into similar projects for the three beach cities,” he said.
