Rookie Davis Love III scored eagles on consecutive holes in a wind-whipped 68 that provided him with a tie for the first-round lead Wednesday in the Isuzu Kapalua International golf tournament.

He shared the lead at four-under-par with Nick Faldo, a three-time British PGA champion, who played without a bogey in winds of “50-to-60 miles per hour.”

The winds stripped names and numbers from the leaderboards, knocked down a sponsor’s hospitality tent and ripped branches from trees on the Kapalua Bay course.

After starting his day’s play from the 10th tee, Love needed only a 7-iron second shot to reach the green on the 557-yard 18th, and dropped a 25-foot eagle putt.

Turning to the par-5 first, he holed a 50-foot eagle putt after a 3-wood second shot. He also two-putted for birdie 4 on the sixth, and drove the green on the 360-yard, par 4 13th, again, two-putting for birdie.
