Compton City Councilman Floyd A. James was questioned by Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies and released after they searched his home and found an IBM personal computer that had been stolen in a Cerritos burglary. A sheriff’s spokesman quoted the councilman as saying that he had “bought the computer from an undisclosed individual about one month ago.” James, 46, who is chairman of a high-profile Community Task Force on Crime, could not be reached for comment.
