$3 Million Burns in Armored Car

DETROIT —
An armored car tipped over on a downtown freeway and burst into flames early today, destroying most of the $3 million aboard, police said.
“An awful lot of the money burned,” said Trooper David Hill of the State Police expressway patrol division. “Some of it fell out but the majority was inside.” The accident caused a massive rush-hour traffic jam as gawkers swarmed to the scene.
