Terrorist Plot Foiled, Tehran Radio Reports
Iranian authorities have arrested five men with 220 pounds of explosives they were about to plant in a public place, Tehran radio said Sunday.
Quoting a statement from the Information Ministry, the radio said the arrested men received the explosives from Iraq. It did not say where they planned to place the bomb.
The ministry said the five men were also responsible for a massive blast in the Iranian capital Aug. 19 that killed at least 20 people and wounded scores of others. Witnesses in Tehran put the death toll at 40 to 60.
