Videotaped testimony to be presented at the murder trial of a San Francisco man charged with murdering his wealthy traveling companion was taken in San Francisco’s Canadian Consulate. Robert Frisbee, 58, has been charged with the August, 1985, murder of Muriel Barnett, 80, also of San Francisco, whose body was found in her luxury stateroom aboard a Norwegian cruise ship in Canadian waters. Officials said she had been beaten to death with a champagne bottle. Frisbee will go on trial next month in Victoria, Canada, because the ship was in Canadian waters when the victim was killed. Prosecutors said the extraordinary hearing in San Francisco was necessary because 19 California witnesses were reluctant to go to Canada.
