Litton Industries President Orion L. Hoch will take on the additional responsibilities of chief executive from Litton Chairman Fred W. O’Green, pending a vote of the board on Dec. 11.

Hoch began his Litton career in 1957 at the company’s electron devices division in San Carlos, Calif. He left Litton in 1974 to accept the presidency of Advanced Memory Systems of Cupertino, Calif., and stayed there until the company was purchased by General Electric in 1981. He graduated from Carnegie Mellon University in 1952. He earned a master’s degree in physics from UCLA in 1954 and a doctorate in electrical engineering from Stanford University in 1957.
