‘31 Bugatti Fetches $8.1 Million

Thomas Monaghan, owner of Domino’s pizza empire and the Detroit Tigers, said today he has bought a 1931 Bugatti for $8.1 million, the highest price ever paid for a car.

Monaghan said he bought the Bugatti Royale Berline de Voyage from Houston real estate developer Jerry Moore. Moore bought the 22-foot black and yellow limousine last June for $6.5 million at a Reno auction. There are only six Bugatti Royales in the world.
