Great Smokeout
One week before Thanksgiving each year the American Cancer Society has the Great American Smokeout, which is a day for smokers to try to quit smoking for at least that one day.
The great hazards presented by smoking give both smokers and nonsmokers alike good reasons to help make this day a success. We can all help by giving friendly encouragement to those who are hooked, such as by telling them that the Great American Smokeout is today.
