One of the alleged accomplices in the slaying of an off-duty sheriff’s cadet in Spring Valley testified Thursday and blamed the killing on the man who has been convicted of the crime.

Ronnie Davis Williams, 20, told San Diego Superior Court jurors that he feared Jesse Lee Stuart, 20, and went along with the robbery of a Safeway store the night of the slaying because he was afraid he would get hurt if he refused.

The jury has not been told that Stuart was convicted of first-degree murder on July 31 and was sentenced to 35 years to life in prison in the death of Kelly Bazer, 28, an El Cajon mother of two.

Even though Williams was not the triggerman, he still could be convicted of first-degree murder if the jury finds that he participated in the hold-up of Bazer after the supermarket robbery on Jan. 13.

The jury could begin deliberations Monday, when final arguments and instructions will be heard.
