Negotiators tentatively settled the Delco strike.

Spokesmen for the United Auto Workers and General Motors said they expect workers to ratify the agreement today and for production to resume possibly by Sunday at Delco Electronics’ Kokomo, Ind., plant. The strike by 7,700 workers that began Monday at the GM components plant triggered the layoff of 47,550 employees at assembly facilities nationwide. GM would not say when the laid-off workers will return. A spokesman said GM has not decided whether to close its Van Nuys plant because of parts shortages, but if there is a shutdown, it will be for no more than three or four scheduled workdays beginning Tuesday afternoon.
