Alaska Edges by USIU for 3-2 Hockey Victory

Andy Pokupec scored in the closing minutes of the third period to give the University of Alaska-Fairbanks a 3-2 victory Saturday over United States International University in a Great West Hockey Conference game.

Jim Hau scored twice to pace USIU to a 2-0 lead early in the second period before Mark Barger brought Alaska-Fairbanks back with two goals in the same. USIU is 3-3-1 overall and 2-2-1 in conference. Alaska-Fairbanks is 8-4 and 2-3. The two teams play again at 2 p.m. today at USIU.
