Ali Nasser Hasani, who vanished after he was ousted as head of state in South Yemen in a bloody coup last January, has surfaced in Damascus. In an interview at a government guest house, Hasani said Syria is working to heal divisions between Marxist factions in his country. South Yemeni President Haider abu Bakr Attas met Saturday with President Hafez Assad in Damascus, but there was no word on what they discussed. Hasani also criticized the current South Yemeni regime for prosecuting more than 100 of his supporters on treason charges. Hasani is also being tried in his absence.
