Bob Geldof, the rock star given an honorary knighthood by Queen Elizabeth II after he spearheaded the massive charity campaign to ease famine in Africa, has been nominated for the 1987 Nobel Peace Prize.

The Band Aid founder, who narrowly missed this year’s award, was nominated by Greville Janner, a member of Parliament from Britain’s opposition Labor Party.

Janner, a member of the group which nominated the 1986 winner, Holocaust survivor Elie Wiesel, said, “Bob Geldof is important not only for what he has done but as a symbol of that which we should all be doing.”
