Hawthorne : Time Limit on Speakers
An ordinance that would impose a five-minute limit on speakers addressing the City Council has been introduced. A second reading of the ordinance will be held at the council’s Dec. 8 meeting. If adopted, the ordinance would take effect 30 days later.
There have been complaints recently from council members and residents that speakers have taken too much time addressing the council, resulting in council meetings often lasting until midnight.
