Long Beach : Dever Gets One Last Raise

Share

City Council members have unanimously voted to grant City Manager John E. Dever an 11% salary increase even though Dever has only two months left on the job.

The pay increase will boost Dever’s annual salary from the $94,511 to $105,000 a year. For Dever, it will mean an increase in retirement pay when he leaves office Jan. 30. Dever’s pension is based on approximately half of his annual salary.

In approving the pay raise for Dever, council members said it would put him on a par with new City Manager John C. Hankla. Hankla was hired last week for a $105,000 annual salary but also receives a deferred payment of $7,500.
