San Diego firefighters responded to an explosion and fire of suspicious origin in the 3000 block of Boston Avenue in Logan Heights at about 6 a.m. Thursday.

A 19-year-old woman, identified as Ramona Guerrero, who apparently had been in the building during the fire, was taken by two unidentified men to Physicians & Surgeons Hospital suffering from smoke inhalation and respiratory burns, according to a fire department spokeswoman. Further examination showed that she apparently also had been stabbed several times in the legs. She is reported in critical but stable condition.

A fire department spokeswoman said firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze. San Diego Police and the Metro Arson Strike Team are both investigating the cause of the blaze, which authorities suspect might be drug-related.
