“Stallion Gate.” Recorded Books. Frank Muller’s sensitive and powerful reading of Martin Cruz Smith’s thriller about Los Alamos near A-bomb testing time seamlessly blends fact and fiction in a drama as searing as the New Mexico sun. It stars such familiar historical figures as J. Robert Oppenheimer and Klaus Fuchs and fictional ones like Sgt. Joe Pena, whose assignment as Oppenheimer’s driver triggers much of the action and intrigue. There’s a lot to be said for multitape unabridged readings, especially when someone as skilled as Muller does the reading. This company’s audiocassette packages can be either purchased or rented.
