Zero Corp. sold its 55% interest in Dacobas Inc., a Simi Valley maker of furniture used in sterile environments known as clean rooms, to its joint-venture partner Knurr AG of Munich, West Germany.
James E. Osterman, Zero’s vice president for finance, said Knurr will pay the Burbank firm $25,000 from future profits, if any. He said Knurr also guaranteed that Zero will be reimbursed for an undisclosed amount in advances it made to Dacobas, which opened in early 1985.
In a prepared statement, Wilford D. Godbold Jr., Zero’s president and chief executive, said that Dacobas did not “achieve anticipated profitable results.” He said the sale would not hurt Zero’s earnings.
Zero also announced it has completed the previously announced sale of a 90,000-square-foot building at 1000 Chestnut St. in Burbank. The company sold the facility for $3 million, making a $1 million profit, Godbold said.
Zero makes enclosures and accessories for the electronics industry, including cabinets, cases and cooling equipment. It also makes Zero Halliburton aluminum luggage and camera cases.
