Police on Monday arrested a man for suspicion of burglary after finding him stuck inside a rooftop air duct over a liquor store.
The suspect, identified as Mark Eugene Wallace, 28, apparently had climbed headfirst into the duct and became stuck when he tried to turn a corner, police said.
Officers responded to a burglar alarm at Lucky 6 Liquor, 112 N. Tustin Ave., shortly before 2 a.m. but could not find a suspect at first, Police Sgt. Chet Barry said.
Police searched the roof of the one-story building after an officer noticed a rope hanging from the ceiling and a panel missing from a vent, Barry said. An officer in a police helicopter later noticed that a roof hatch on the store had been opened, Barry added.
Police called the City Fire Department for a ladder and found a 6-foot, 160-pound man identified as Wallace inside the air duct, Barry said.
Arrested on suspicion of burglary, Wallace was being held in County Jail in Santa Ana in lieu of $10,000, police said.
