From Reuters
SANTIAGO, Chile —
A team of three Americans and one Chilean will attempt what they believe to be the first crossing by rowboat from the southern tip of South America to the Antarctic later this month, it was announced Monday.
Team leader Ned Gillette told a news conference that the group intends to leave the southern Chilean port of Punto Arenas on Dec. 10 and expects the trip across the icy waters of Drake’s Passage to take around 20 days.
