Avalon : Zoning Plan Hearing Set
A public hearing on the county’s long-term zoning plan for Santa Catalina Island will be held at 7:30 tonight at the Avalon Junior and Senior School.
The zoning plan, which requires approval of the county Board of Supervisors and California Coastal Commission, is the first major rezoning effort on the island since the 1920s.
The new zoning policies would set in motion a Local Coastal Plan approved in 1983 that would allow development of a major resort community in the village of Two Harbors and a sizable expansion of housing in Avalon.
