A Topanga woman was in critical condition and her husband was in fair condition recovering from injuries suffered in the crash of their small plane near Twin Falls Airport in Idaho. The couple’s son, who was not further identified, was not hurt. A Federal Aviation Administration spokesman said the couple’s twin-engine Cessna 414 crashed about 10 miles northeast of the airport after they diverted from fogged-in Friedman Memorial Airport near Sun Valley. The spokesman said Paul Van Alstyne made several landing approaches at Sun Valley before flying south to attempt a landing at Twin Falls. The plane was demolished and the cause of the accident was under investigation by the FAA, he said.
