Snow fell over the mountains of the Southwest and freezing rain spread onto the Plains, where a winter storm threatened to develop overnight in Texas and Oklahoma. In Colorado, the Wolf Creek ski area near Durango was blanketed by 7 inches of snow. Denver got 1 to 3 inches by midday, and ice and snow covered roads in higher mountain passes. Storm watches were posted over the Oklahoma and Texas panhandles into northwestern Oklahoma, while blowing snow made driving dangerous in New Mexico and Utah. Snow showers were scattered across northern and central New York state and the upper Midwest.
