A man whose heartbeat was restored after he apparently was underwater for nearly an hour died after he was removed from life support equipment at University Hospitals in Iowa City, Iowa. The official cause of Donald Radloff’s death was listed as drowning. Radloff, 41, of Davenport, was taken to the hospital after the car in which he was riding overturned in an icy creek. His heart had stopped and his body temperature had dropped to 75 degrees. In an attempt to revive him, doctors drew Radloff’s blood, warmed it and pumped it back into his body.
