A 22-year-old man who crashed his car through the front window of an Anaheim sporting goods store early today was found dead of an apparently self-inflicted head wound more than nine hours later, police reported.
Anaheim Police Lt. Del Wade said a squad of SWAT officers found Jeffrey Allen Kim of Anaheim dead in a dressing room of the store. Wade said the intruder crashed his Datsun 210 into the store at 12:30 a.m. The plate glass was shattered and a metal shutter protecting the glass was bent, allowing Kim to crawl into the store. SWAT team officers, who arrived at 3 a.m., were unable to contact the intruder, either by telephone or with a bullhorn, Wade said. Kim was found dead at 10 a.m. when the officers finally entered the store. No shots were heard while police tried to make contact with Kim.
