Ron Fairly Leaves Angels’ Broadcast Booth for Giants
- Share via
Ron Fairly, longtime Angel radio broadcaster, has left the club to become the lead radio and television announcer for the San Francisco Giants.
Fairly replaces Hank Greenwald, whose contract wasn’t renewed by San Francisco station KNBR. Fairly played 21 years in the major leagues and has spent the last eight seasons as the commentator on Angel broadcasts.
Fairly reportedly was only offered a one-year contract by Golden West Broadcasting, which employs the Angel announcers. Al Conin, Fairly’s partner, was offered a three-year contract.
Said KMPC general manager Bill Ward: “Ron had the opportunity to both do radio and television and took it. We wish him well.”
Fairly only worked three innings of play-by-play, and Conin worked six during Angel radio broadcasts.
