Long Beach : Free Holiday Parking
Christmas shoppers in the Belmont Shore area have received a seasonal gift from city officials: free parking.
At the request of the Belmont Shore Business Assn., the City Council Tuesday unanimously approved suspending the collection of parking meter fees on Belmont Shore streets and in public parking lots. The suspension begins at 12:01 a.m. Monday and extends to 11:59 p.m. Dec. 24.
Councilwoman Jan Hall, who represents Belmont Shore, said prohibitions against parking in handicapped zones or parking for more than two hours in the same space will continue to be enforced.
