Billionaire Dallas businessman H. Ross Perot persuaded a Vietnam veteran to end his 28-day fast on behalf of American servicemen missing in Southeast Asia. “That man saved my life as far as I’m concerned,” said Terry Taylor, who had been living in a bamboo hut in his carport in Portland, Ore., since Nov. 11. “I was determined to stay in here even if it killed me.” Taylor said Perot invited him by telephone to a meeting in Dallas next week to discuss efforts to establish a delegation to locate missing servicemen.
