Britain’s General Electric Co., which consumed $1.43 billion of government money in developing an early warning radar system, said the Defense Ministry has opted for Boeing’s system. Legislators of both the Conservative Party and the opposition protested the selection. The Royal Air Force had favored Boeing’s E-3 AWACS over General Electric’s Nimrod aircraft. British GE is not connected to the U.S. company of the same name.
