Mayor Dianne Feinstein is hoping for the return of her late husband’s wedding ring that disappeared during a fund-raising affair at her Presidio Terrace home last week.

“I’m hopeful someone will realize it’s very sentimental to me and will return it,” Feinstein said.

She said the ring, described as gold, inset with a thin band of black jade, was in her dressing room on a set of glass shelves. She said it had been hanging on a small ivory duck carved from a tusk by Eskimos.

The duck, she said, was a gift she had given to her husband, Bert Feinstein.

“It was a special place, with some pictures and the ring,” she said. “And it was just missing. He died with it on.”

Feinstein said someone might have picked it up by mistake or it might have slipped accidentally into a coat pocket.
