I recently watched for the umpteenth time on cable TV, the classic Western, “Shane.” It is one of my favorite Westerns. Brandon de Wilde should have been awarded an Oscar for his outstanding performance in that film. It was one of the greatest demonstrations of acting by a child I have ever seen, and that includes Jackie Coogan, Jackie Cooper and Mickey Rooney.
