Two new European studies showing a link between high cholesterol levels and colon cancer suggest that diets rich in fat may cause this form of cancer. One of the studies found that men with high cholesterol are about 60% more likely than those with normal cholesterol to get colon cancer, and the other found an association between high cholesterol and colon polyps that often become cancerous. The studies were published in today’s issue of the New England Journal of Medicine.
