“Walt Disney’s Magic Kingdom on Ice,” probably best known for putting Mickey and Minnie Mouse on skates, returns to Southern California for a four-week holiday engagement beginning today.

Two-time world figure skating champion Linda Fratianne will headline the family show, which will be at the Anaheim Convention Center today through Wednesday, the Los Angeles Sports Arena next Friday through Jan. 13 and Long Beach Arena Jan. 15-18.

Besides Fratianne, who also won the silver medal at the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid, N.Y., and is a four-time national champion, the program will spotlight Finnish skating champion Kristiina Wegelius and Mark Cockerell, silver medalist at the 1985 U.S. Championships.

In addition, several characters from Goofy to Donald Duck will be on hand. This year’s theme brings sports and fantasy together in a series of skits about baseball, football and tennis.

“Walt Disney’s Magic Kingdom on Ice” is produced by Kenneth Feld, who also produces Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus.
