Raines Pro and Con; Ostler Pro and Con

I couldn’t agree more with Scott Ostler’s column (Dec. 17) regarding the Dodgers’ pursuit of free agent Tim Raines. It is a slap in the face to all Dodger fans who loyally support the team each year for the team to claim that they cannot afford Raines, because the Dodgers make substantially higher profits than any other professional sports franchise.

So the Dodgers got burned on Dave Goltz and Don Stanhouse. That’s not a good enough reason not to reward the fans with an honest pursuit of someone who can definitely help turn the club around next year.
