That ‘Deli-cious’ Jazz
I was delighted to read Saturday’s (Dec. 6) View article on Joe Massimino, the pianist and deli owner who gives concerts outside his store in Tustin on Sundays (“Deli-cious Jazz Served Sundays” by Patrick Mott).
Mott got it right when he wrote that Massimino is one of the best jazz pianists in Southern California (to which I’d add “and the U.S.A.”). He got it wrong when he wrote that Massimino was musical director for years of “The Merv Griffin Show” (that’s like saying that Lee Iacocca works for Ford).
Please let it be said that Massimino was the super-talented musical director of “The Mike Douglas Show.”
Joe and I--and Mike, I’m sure--would thank you for the correction.
