Florida Insurance Protest Reduces Hospital Services

MIAMI —
Some hospitals began restricting emergency room services Thursday as doctors who must have malpractice insurance coverage under a new state law refused to treat some patients. Police said that accident victims and people needing emergency care were treated at 30 hospitals. Nine hospitals reduced care and one closed its emergency room.
