VANNA’S VOOM

Share

What’s so bad about Americans “worshipping” Vanna White? They could do a lot worse (“Don’t Ask,” by Howard Rosenberg, Dec. 28).

Miss White is, without exception, the nicest “celebrity” I’ve encountered in 21 years of living and working in this community. She’s genuine, caring and real. If her adoring public really got to know this young lady as I did during the five months we collaborated on her autobiography (“Vanna Speaks”), then that worship would turn to sheer love.

Here is a woman who asked for none of the adulation. For whatever reasons, it just happened. Publicity? She’s not out chasing it. She’s turned down the covers of Newsweek, Life and People.

More people should be like Vanna White. The world would be a lot happier and less cynical.
