Not Many Good Jobs
In his Dec. 28 letter, Jack Furlong asks if anyone is hiring now. Well, they are.
Such careers as fry cook, envelope stuffer, crossing guard and phone sales are available.
Unfortunately, most of these service sector jobs pay at near the minimum wage level and are often temporary.
Of course, the Labor Department considers them full-time employment, thus keeping their unemployment rate at an artificially low 7% this past year.
That may seem ludicrous, but it seems to satisfy our politicians, especially our tired old President.
