Capistrano Beach : Committee Applies for Permission for Cityhood
The Capistrano Beach Committee for Incorporation has applied to the county for permission to form a city.
Committee spokeswoman Terry Lucarelli said more than 1,000 signatures in favor of incorporating the seaside community were gathered and submitted to the Local Agency Formation Commission this week.
Groups in Dana Point and Laguna Niguel have also filed incorporation requests. A group in Mission Viejo is expected to do so within the next two months.
If county officials find that the applications are complete, a hearing date for each community will be set, probably not before March. If the applications are approved, residents could vote on the incorporation issue in November.
