NICOSIA, Cyprus — Floods in southern Iran killed 424 people and destroyed 10,000 homes, Tehran radio reported Sunday.
The radio quoted Jalil Besharati, the official in charge of the relief headquarters, as saying that more than 10,000 miles of roads and 1,000 bridges were destroyed. The radio, monitored in London, did not say when the deaths occurred, but southern Iran suffered severe flooding for several weeks late last year.
