Sen. Bob Dole (R-Kan.) said the initial Senate Intelligence Committee report on the Iran arms- contra aid scandal has been declassified and should be released, but the top Senate Democrat warned against the move. Sen. Robert C. Byrd (D-W.Va.) said the information gleaned by the Senate panel so far could be misleading and its release might interfere with the investigation being carried out by independent counsel Lawrence E. Walsh. Dole, the Senate Republican leader, and Byrd appeared on ABC’s “This Week With David Brinkley.”
