Continuing complaints from Hollenbeck-area residents over teen-age cruisers have prompted plans for a two-week crackdown by 20 Los Angeles motorcycle officers on Soto Street near Whittier Boulevard. Cmdr. Jim Chambers of the Operations Central Bureau said officers will write citations and impound cars, but will not utilize the city’s new anti-cruising law because they feel it is impractical. Under the new law, officers must first post a street, then warn a driver on his first pass, keeping track of repeaters.
