El Dorado County Supervisor John Cefalu said he was confused and disappointed by the negative reaction from a leading environmentalist to Cefalu’s appointment to the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency. Tom Martens, director of the League to Save Lake Tahoe, said the appointment of Cefalu would make it more difficult to get final passage of a master plan to protect the lake and guide growth in the Tahoe Basin for the next 20 years. Cefalu said he was “flattered” that Martens gave him credit for enough power to change the plan, which has been developed over a period of years. Cefalu was supported by a property owners’ group.
